This is an account created by

hjbender for the purpose of storing fictional stories (and occasionally art) from various fandoms. All stories contained herein are fictional (except when noted) and all rights belong exclusively to their respective creator(s).

THE AUTHOR

My name's Hal J. Bender. I've been a writer of fanfiction for far too long and have yet to learn when enough is enough. I regrettably spend more time working on personal writing projects rather than reading the works of peers, and I'm notorious for starting epic stories and leaving them unfinished two-thirds of the way through. I've also been damned with an incurable case of British-English spelling, which is now currently being rectified.

In addition to being a fanfic writer, I'm also something of an artist (see also: deviantART), and will occasionally create images to go along with the stories, though that's usually rare. Writing is definitely the more important skill of the two, however, I remain tenacious with artistic endeavors in hopes of illustrating an original novel (HA) some distant day in the unknown future.

THE WRITING

Most—if not all—of the stories posted in this archive will be of slash or yaoi (read: gay) nature, though not necessarily classified as "adult" in that the content can sometimes range from amazingly benign to downright "general". Granted, I have written and will post stories of graphic and/or mature constitution, though such material will be clearly labeled to avoid any chaos. Regardless, it would be best if the reading audience were over the age of 18 or possessed a wise sense of discretion before plunging in and getting ambushed by something really big and gay.

MORE ON THE WRITING

While practiced in the fine or not-quite-so-fine-but-definitely-not-terrible art of anime fanfiction-ing (since 1995), I have in recent years graduated to different fandom mediums that include (but are not limited to) books, video games, and live-action movies. It could be easily said that humor and comedy is the defining factor of the majority of my work, but don't be surprised if a rare angst or oozing romance fic works its way in among the laughs (hope you all have hazmat suits for that). I would also like to express that 98% of the fanfiction written from years predating 2000 to 2002 are complete garbage and should only be read for mockery.

IN CLOSING

Fandoms fade in and fade out like the ebb of the tide, but I never completely abandon them, opting instead to rotate them every now and then in order to keep ideas fresh and flowing. The name of the game, essentially, is "keep it as interesting for as long as possible and then move on to something new before getting burnt out on it". Change is good, and people—especially artists and writers—should always be on fair terms with it. </p>
